  • Connect your printer to a reliable power supply and turn it on, as the resetting process requires an uninterrupted power supply.
  • Go to your printer’s control panel and press the Login button.
  • Type your Admin password using the on-screen keyboard.
  • Usually, the default password will be 1111.
  • In the past, if you have changed the password, then enter the new one.
  • Press the Home button.
  • Touch Device > Resets.
  • Tap on Reset to Factory Defaults.
  • On the screen with the confirmation message, tap on the Reset button.
  • All jobs, presets, applications, and device settings will get reset and return the printer to its original factory state.
  • Once the reset process gets completed, the printer restarts.
  • The Install Wizard will start up and will guide you through the setup process.
  • Now, you can start setting up your Xerox VersaLink C405 printer from the beginning.

Once the printer is reset to its default settings, it is necessary to connect the printer to your computer.


  • First, turn on your computer.
  • Click on the Windows Start button.
  • On the settings page, select Devices and Printers.
  • Choose the Add a printer option.
  • In the Add Printer window, click on Add a local printer.
  • Under Create a new port, choose the Standard TCP/IP Port from the drop-down menu and click Next when you are done.
  • Enter the IP Address of your printer.
  • Make sure that the latest printer drivers are installed on your PC.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions carefully.
  • Connect the printer to your PC via a USB connection.
  • Click on Finish to complete the connection process.

Once properly connected, you can view your Xerox printer by clicking the Start button and then clicking on Devices and Printers.
