The procedure for installing a Canon printer varies depending on the printer model. How To Install Canon Printer


  • You need to download the driver for your printer model if you wish to install a Canon printer on your computer without CD. 
  • To begin with, launch the default browser on your computer and visit the official Canon site.
  • Enter your printer’s model number in the search field and click the printer model in the search result.
  • Click the Drivers & Downloads tab and select your OS from the Operating System drop-down menu.
  • Choose the required printer driver and click the Download button to get the driver for your printer.
  • After completing the download, navigate to your download location and double-click the downloaded file to run the driver installation.
  • Carry out the on-screen prompts to establish a connection between your printer and the computer and finish the driver installation.

When you purchase your printer, you’ll be provided with an installation CD comprising the driver for the printer.   • Before starting, verify that your Mac is updated to the latest software version.
  • Next, connect your Canon printer to your Mac via a USB cable.
  • If you have a wireless printer, connect it to the wireless network to which your Mac is connected.
  • On your Mac, click the Apple menu at the top-left corner and select the System Preferences option.
  • Click the Printers & Scanners icon in the System Preferences window.
  • Head to the left-side panel and click the Add icon.
  • Go to the Default tab and choose your printer’s name from the displayed list.

  • First, turn on your Canon printer and connect it to your Windows computer.
  • If the Found New Hardware window appears on your computer, click Next and follow the on-screen prompts to add your printer.
  • Otherwise, launch the Control Panel and click the Devices and Printers tab.
  • Click the Add a printer button at the top of the page and select your printer’s name under Choose a device or printer to add to this PC.
  • If your printer’s name is not listed, click on the ‘The printer I want isn’t listed’ link.
  • Enable the radio button beside the option ‘Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.’
  • Select the Use an existing port option and click Next.
  • In the Manufacturer section, choose Canon.
  • In the Printers section, select your printer’s model number.
  • Give a name for your printer. Click the Print a Test Page button.
  • Once the test page is printed, you can confirm that you have successfully added your printer.
  • Finally, install the required printer software by downloading them directly from the official Canon site.


  • To begin with, connect your Canon printer and Chromebook via a USB cable or over a wireless network.
  • To check the connection between your Chromebook and the printer, print a test page. Some printers will be configured automatically and show up on the list while printing.
  • If you do not see your printer’s name while printing, click Manage and select Print.
  • To install the Canon printer driver, click Settings at the bottom-right corner and select Advanced.
  • Click the Add Printer button and select Printers below Printing.

  • First, install the Canon IJ Scan Utility on your computer. This utility is available for download on the official Canon site.
  • Next, turn on your Canon printer and place the original document on the scanner glass.
  • Connect the scanner to your computer via a USB cable. You can also connect them over a wireless network.
  • On your computer, launch the Canon IJ Scan Utility and click the Settings button.
  • Set the paper size, resolution, and other scan settings in the Settings dialog box.
